What is ABA?
As early as 1981, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) has been identified as the treatment of choice for children with Autism. ABA is the design, implementation and evaluation of environmental modifications to produce socially significant improvement in human behavior. ABA includes direct observation, measurement and functional analysis of the relations between factors and behavior. It is the process of systematically applying interventions based upon the principles of learning theory to improve socially significant behaviors.
Socially significant behaviors include social skills, academics, communication and daily living skills such as eating, dressing, toileting, self-care, home and community skills and work skills.
Our ABA Program
ABA Provider Services’ program is based on scientific principles and procedures of Applied Behavior Analysis but is not exclusive to one strategy within ABA. We provide a comprehensive ABA program utilizing a variety of strategies such as Discrete Trial Training, Verbal Behavior, Natural Environment Teaching and Behavior Modification programming. Our program is designed to develop and promote an individual plan that maximizes the potential of every child. Each child’s treatment plan and instruction are based on his or her individual needs and are designed to enhance skills in all developmental domains. Treatment plans will incorporate objective, measurable and individualized goals including parent goals.
Our ABA Service Guidelines
Our ABA clinicians engage each child according to his or her approved treatment plan through direct instruction in the child's natural environment.
Individualized Plan
Our services are individualized based on each child’s goals, following an approved treatment plan and in conjunction with professional assessment tools including the Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP), Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS) and the Hawaii Early Learning Profile (HELP) checklist.
Family Involvement
We firmly believe that your family’s involvement is a critical component to your child’s therapy, as evidence-based research has directly correlated family involvement to skills acquisition by the child.
